Giving

Giving is an important part of our faith journey; and as United Methodists, part of our membership vows.  A significant amount of scripture addresses the role of money in our lives and the importance of giving.  Giving serves two roles in our spiritual walk. First – all that we have is a gift from God.  As Christians, we respond with thankfulness for what God has provided by returning a portion of our blessings as an offering back to God.  These offerings should include our time and our talents in service to others, as well as our financial blessings through contributions to support our church’s ministries.  Second – giving is a way God encourages us to think of others.  When we give our hard-earned money in an unselfish act, we think beyond ourselves. As we learn to give, we grow closer in our personal relationship with God and in our faith.

First United Methodist Church - Fort Worth provides various ways for our congregation to give to support a specific special ministry and/or to give a gift to support the church budget.  Each year the church has a short campaign to support the “Operating Budget” through financial commitments.  These commitments are for funds that underwrite the majority of our ministries, our staff salaries and benefits and the operation and maintenance of our church building.  These “commitments” are an estimate of your financial support for the church during the coming year and may be changed at any time by contacting the business office.  This church also utilizes “special” offerings during the year to support specific ministries of the church – outreach and mission or youth and children are examples.  Please join in supporting the ministry of our church by giving generously.

Our online giving option allows you to set up and pay your 2012 operating budget commitment, make your commitment to the 2012 operating budget, make a donation to the Outreach Ministries, First Street Methodist Mission, Justice Ministry or UMCOR etc.
