Children's Choir and Junior Worship Leaders

First United Methodist Church has two choirs for elementary-age children directed by Julie Pummill Dean. Many fun activities are planned for each choir including retreats, special programs, concerts and musicals. Most importantly, each choir sings frequently in morning worship services. Through the choir program, the children memorize words that teach important Biblical texts and Christian concepts as they practice their faith through music.

Children’s Choir is for children in Kindergarten through Second Grade.  Children’s Choir sings in worship frequently and often participates in seasonal programs with the Junior Worship Leaders.  Rehearsals are Sunday mornings following the 11:00 service Children's Moment.  Children will be escorted from the Sanctuary to the choir room and will rehearse until 12:10.  For a registration form, click here.  For more information, click here to email Julie Dean.

Junior Worship Leaders is for singers in Third through Fifth Grades.  They often participate in the Sanctuary worship services. This choir also presents an annual Christmas program and spring musical.  Junior Worship Leaders meet each Sunday 10:30-11:30 am.  For a registration form, click hereFor more information, click here to email Julie Dean.
In addition to these two choirs, music is provided for three- and four-year-olds during the first-hour Sunday School.  The children go to the Children's Atrium where they are taught about music as an expression of God's love and helped  to prepare them to become members of the Children's Choir when they enter Kindergarten.
